The Bendigo Botanic Gardens at White Hills are managed by City of Greater Bendigo and comprise the Heritage Gardens and the Garden for the Future - including the Larni Garingilang precinct with native planting, Omari cafe & meeting room.

Key Features:
- 3ha contemporary garden extension, opened in April 2018
- Over 30,000 climate-resilient plants from 500+ species
- 4,700 sqm of lawn and 40+ picnic lawns
- Shelter/stage building, toilet facilities, and event spaces
- Grassed amphitheatre and semi-intimate gathering spaces
- 133m-long custom promenade with reclaimed Red Gum timber seating.
Sustainable Design:
- Uses exclusively recycled water for irrigation
- Innovative stormwater drainage system to prevent flooding, the lawns act as flood retardation basins during heavy rain events
- Materials sourced and fabricated locally (gravel, concrete, steel) to minimize transport and support local businesses.
Plant Collection:
- Three distinct areas: International Biome, Australian Biome, and Fun and Fantasy Lawn
- Features plants from around the world that can thrive in Bendigo's climate, and designed for Bendigo’s future climate with hot, dry summers and frosty winters
- Showcases a mix of native and exotic plants that can coexist successfully.
Objectives:
- Celebrate the past, appreciate the present, and embrace the future
- Test and showcase climate-resilient plants for future generations, to act as a research site for plant resilience and climate adaptation
- Provide a community space for recreation, education, and events.
